The Bruny Island Neck provides spectacular views East and West

Bruny Island Neck Game Reserve

Truganini Lookout, Neck Beach, Penguin Rookery and Camp.

50km return Medium ride, all on sealed roads. Its hilly on the ferry end of the ride (beginning and end) and fairly flat on the Neck end.

A very pleasant day ride with Get Shucked Oysters, Bruny Island Cheese and Beer Co,  Bruny Island Honey and House of Whiskey on route.

Sightseeing the Bruny Island Honey company

Hiring one of the ebikes makes this ride achievable to most levels of fitness. Once at the Neck, the lookout has a sensational view, very popular for “selfies” with the narrow Isthmus as a backdrop.

To see the penguins you need to be there as darkness falls, there is good camping at the Neck Camp Ground which is situated right on the edge of a wonderful sweeping ocean beach. (Bruny Island Cycle Tours and luggage transfer)

Sightseeing the Bruny Island Isthmus

Tour Highlights

See the penguins at night time, fantastic views, good camping

History of the Area

Geologically, Bruny Island is actually two land masses—North Bruny and South Bruny—that are joined by a long, narrow sandy isthmus. Bruny Island has a total length of approximately 50 kilometres (31 miles). The holiday village of Dennes Point is located in North Bruny, while South Bruny is the site of the towns of Alonnah, Adventure Bay and Lunawanna.
